Venezuela is about to erupt.

There is a large protest in Venezuela which has somehow not made it to the radar of the US media. There have been -almost daily- large protests for weeks now. Maduro is unpopular in every sector of Venezuelan politics and society. It is widely believed the last elections were rigged. Many deaths have occurred. He has alienated all of his allies and only holds onto power through bribery and favoritism.

On Feb 12, his forces opened fired on retreating students, killing four and injuring many others. The question isn't when Maduro falls or how many stupidly wasted lives there will be, but a far more pressing question: Who replaces him?

On Feb 12, the government forces of Nicolas Maduro opened fire on fleeing protesters, killing at least 2 possibly 4 with many, many wounded, some seriously. There have been tensions over the chronic shortage of everyday good, such as soap, cooking pots, and especially, food. There have been street demonstrations off and on -mostly on- for several weeks and it has been coming to a head. Maduro, with his rubber-stamp Assembly (bribed) and Cabinet (bribed) and the upper military leaders (REALLY bribed!) he has declared himself a slew of unilateral, arbitrary powers which will "expedite the security of the country."

Pray for Venezuela.

There are no good choices to replace him. It is an extremely dangerous environment in which to operate. Assassinations of local politicians are common and even the powerful must be very careful.

Pray for Venezuela.
